Kelly Clarkson at the 2009 American Music Awards

October 30th, 2009 . by admin

American Idol’s leading lady, Kelly Clarkson was among those in attendance last night at the 2009 American Music Awards. The singer stopped for pictures, blew kisses at the cameras and walked along the red carpet at the event.
Kelly showed up wearing a black dress, highlighted with big rhinestones. Honestly, I’m am not liking it at all, but at least she did bring down the house by performing her new single, “Already Gone” (coming soon). What do you guys think of her outfit?

American Idol: What is it all About?

October 20th, 2009 . by admin

American Idol has been on the air for over seven years and is probably the most popular show on TV today. Attracting huge superstars and big paying sponsors American Idol is one of the juggernauts of TV land as of now.

Barbara Walters brings Adam Lambert back to ABC this week

October 12th, 2009 . by admin

We all know how ABC feels about Adam Lambert. After his much-debated performance at the American Music Awards last month.

After his stage performance which included simulated sex acts and guy-on-guy kissing, the network reacted swiftly to the backlash that was thrown its way. Not only did ABC decide to cancel Adam’s scheduled appearance on Good Morning America the next day (with CBS snatching him up immediately for their Early Show), they’ve also gone on to cancel his appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live and Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.
Clearly the network is afraid Adam will go wild in front of the cameras again and are reluctant to give him another chance. However, if Barbara Walters wants Adam Lambert on ABC then the network will comply because… well, it’s Barbara Walters after all!
This week Barbara is doing her annual “Ten Most Fascinating People of 2009″ special on Wednesday night where Adam will be one of the top ten. I’m curious to see why she includes him. I certainly consider his one of the most fascinating people of the year, but he’s one of my favorite Idol contestants ever so I’m biased. I’m just wondering what compelled her to put him on her list.
Following the special, Barbara will have Adam on morning talk show The View for an interview and a performance. Barbara is not one to shy away from the tough questions so it will be interesting to see what she asks him, especially since Adam isn’t exactly shy either and will likely have some good answers. I presume that he’ll be performing “Whataya Want From Me” which is less controversial than “For Your Entertainment”.
Still, how much do you want to bet that ABC gave Adam very specific guidelines about what he is and is not allowed to do in front of their cameras while he’s performing?
Below the cut I’ve included a video clip of Adam Lambert performing “Whataya Want From Me” on Ellen last week so you can see that he’s not always crazy on stage.

Adam appeared on Ellen on December 1st and gave a great performance.

I preferred this tremendously to the American Music Awards performance. I actually really like the song “For Your Entertainment” and what Adam did on stage didn’t personally offend me but I feel that he was too busy trying to act out the song and his vocals fell apart as a result. He’s too good a singer to let that happen so I was really happy that “Whataya Want From Me” has been sung very well on all of his appearances thus far.
Will you watch Adam Lambert on The View this week?

Adam Lambert at the 2009 American Music Awards

October 5th, 2009 . by admin

Putting on quite the interesting performance last night at the 2009 American Music Awards, was none other than Idol’s Adam Lambert. He arrived at the event looking rather Glambert-ish, completely with dramatic gazes towards the cameras.
He cleaned up pretty nicely and from what I’ve seen, he had quite a fun-filled evening!

Video clips of Carrie Underwood’s All-Star Holiday Special

October 3rd, 2009 . by admin

On Monday night, Carrie Underwood’s All Star Holiday Special aired on Fox and she helped to bring back the old-fashioned variety show, featuring guest singers and skits. I’ve been able to find some video clips to share with you in case you missed it!
First of all, I had to show you Carrie Underwood singing “O Holy Night”, one of my all-time favorite Christmas songs. Her voice gives me chills in this. WOW.

More video clips of Carrie’s special below the cut!

Of course she also performed her recent red-hot single “Cowboy Casanova” as well, and she looked gorgeous in her black leather pants and sparkly black top.

One of Carrie’s guests on the show was the legendary Dolly Parton. Dolly gave her quite the compliment, telling Carrie how much she admires her. Coming from someone who’s been in the country music business for so long, that’s wonderful praise. In this clip, Carrie and Dolly perform a duet of the hit song “I Will Always Love You”.

I think they sounded really great together.
Carrie also invited fellow Idol winner David Cook on the show and according to the clip she asked him to sing “Lie” because it’s her favorite song on his album. While “Lie” isn’t my number one favorite song of his, it’s definitely up there for me. He sounded amazing last night, reminding everyone why he won.

It should also be noted that he still has that knack for engaging the audience with his eyes, part of the reason he became the center of “cougar” attention.
It looks like Carrie Underwood’s All-Star Holiday Special was a huge hit, and I wish I had been home to watch the whole thing. Thank goodness for YouTube!
In related news, although the show aired last night, it was pre-recorded, not live. While fans were all watching the special, possibly bundled up against the cold that is stalking North America, Carrie was enjoying herself in the Bahamas and taking a much-deserved R&R break. She looks gorgeous in her bikini, that’s for sure!
