Hollie Talks about her Idol Journey

Hollie Cavanagh, the powerful singer from McKinney, TX fought all the way to the Top 4 before being eliminated last week. The morning after her elimination Hollie chatted with press about leaving the show, the friendships she made, and her future album!

When asked if Hollie thought she would be eliminated she said, “There was definitely something different about that day. I’m not sure what it was, but I guess it was just my gut just telling me. I was just preparing myself for it, but at the same time staying hopeful because you never know what could happen. But I’m not quite sure what the feeling was, but it was just different than every other Thursday.”

What kind of album does Hollie see herself making? “I’d like for my album to be kind of on the pop side but with a little bit of soul. I’d like to make music that’s, you know, on the top of the charts right now. So somewhere along those lines.”

What was Hollie’s favorite moment on American Idol? “I think probably when I sang “Rolling in the Deep” and “Son of a Preacher Man.” I think that was definitely my turning point on the show, but definitely also “The Climb” because that was my first standing ovation on the show.”

Casey James a Part of the 2012 Warrior Games Highlight Video

Season 9′s country crooner, Casey James, jumped at the chance to lend a track to the 2012 Warrior Games highlight video. Presented by Deloitte and hosted by the U.S. Olympic Committee, The Warrior Games are a competition for wounded and ill veterans and service members.

“The Good Life,” the lead song from Casey’s self-titled debut album, provides the soundtrack for The 2012 Warrior Games highlight video which was shown at the closing dinner this past weekend for all the athletes who participated in this year’s Warrior Games.

Want skin like Skylar‘s? Begin by priming skin with a long-wear foundation in two colors: one to highlight and one to contour. After softening up the foundation, apply loose powder for flawless skin. TIP: Match foundation to your skin by testing it on your jawline, then blend it with a sponge.

For Hollie‘s must-have cheeks, pop your cheeks with a “lazy j” application of blush to contour. Add a pop of color on the balls of the cheeks and then follow the natural cheekbone. Using a moist foundation sponge, push the blush into the skin and end with an application of bronzer all over.

To execute Jessica‘s eyebrows, use an automatic pencil to fill in the brows upward from the root. Feather and blend the look using a mascara brush.

Love Elise‘s dramatic eye with a pulled out wing? Here is how to get it: use a primer crayon and then a darker crayon for the eye line. Then, smudge the line with shadow and finish with false eyelashes.

Following tonight’s episode of American Idol, a compilation album of the songs performed by the Season 11 Top 5 finalists will go on sale on the iTunes Store. Individual songs will also be available for sale. The tracks released on iTunes are studio versions recorded by the finalists under the guidance of “Idol” musical director Ray Chew.

“This album showcases the incredible talent embodied by this year’s ‘Idol’ finalists,” said Ray Chew. “These kids are truly amazing, and we’ve given them the kind of production values they deserve.”

Idol executive producer Nigel Lythgoe added, “You listen to these performers and it’s easy to understand the mind-blowing excitement that American Idol has generated this year.” Nigel’s observation is underscored, in part, by the number of fan and media comments about the show on Twitter and other social networking sites, which has skyrocketed this year, running six times higher than last year.

The “Idol” finalists were coached by music industry legend Jimmy Iovine, chairman of Interscope Records, who worked with every singer throughout the studio sessions to ensure they all performed to their fullest potential.

Carrie Underwood, winner of Season 4 of American Idol, releases her 4th studio album, Blown Away, today. The versatile country star is set to return to the American Idol stage on Thursday’s results show to perform LIVE at 8/7c on FOX!

Idols Support Sarcoma Foundation of American and Cancer Research

The Sarcoma Foundation of America (SFA) is pleased to announce that WNYW/Fox 5 reporter Julie Chang will serve for the second year as the Master of Ceremonies of the 10th Annual SFA Gala to be held at the Grand Hyatt in New York City on Monday, April 30. SFA is also pleased to announce that Mark Herzlich, 2010 SFA Courage Award winner, Ewing’s Sarcoma survivor and current New York Giants Super Bowl Champion, will again join SFA to present at this year’s gala. Tony-nominated and former American Idol Finalist, Constantine Maroulis and Season 11 Finalist Elise Testone will perform at the Gala, which supports the SFA mission to help increase research to find new and better therapies with which to treat patients with Sarcoma. The organization raises money to privately fund grants for Sarcoma researchers and conducts education and advocacy efforts on behalf of Sarcoma patients.
